Old Tom takes its name from the tom-cat shaped plaques that London gin houses used to dispense gin to thirsty passers-by. Drop a coin in its mouth and the proprietor would serve up a shot of gin from the animal's paw! The style is slightly sweetened, so sweeter than London Dry, and is great for cocktails. This gin is made by Abelforth's and really ought to be used in a Martinez, which stipulates the Old Tom style.
